Happy Constitution Day. It was on this 228 years ago today that our Nation's Constitution was ratified by our Founding Fathers. I am thankful for all of the rights and privileges that we have in this incredible country. A day never goes by where I am not thankful for my freedoms.
Today we took the hour to honor and learn more about our Nation's Constitution. To see what you missed you can click on and read the following two documents. The first document is a summary as to why our country needed to create our Constitution and the second one is an abridged version of the Constitution itself.

Today we watched a movie about Napoleon and his rise to power in France. Hours 1-3 began watching a different video than what is posted here, however, I would like them to begin at the 8 minute mark and watch this new video. 5th and 6th hour, you can pick up from where you left off in class. Please remember that you need to take solid notes that cover the content of the movie. Bare these points in mind:
What was Napoleons childhood like? Where was he from?
What were his early years like and when/how did he become involved in the military?
What were his major military successes?
Who was Josephine?
How did the French Revolution help him rise to power?
How did he become Emperor of France?
What sort of ruler was he?
How vast did France's Kingdom become?
How did he fall from power?
How did he spend his final days?

This past week we have been focusing on the great minds and talent of the Renaissance. Such geniuses as Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Botticelli and Rembrandt. You will be taking a "Quest" over the information this Monday, February 4. Be prepared to recognize the piece of art, (the artist who created it and the pieces name) describe any symbolism, or interesting facts that you learned. Tomorrow you will be partaking in a review, so come prepared to ask any questions that you may have.
Today we took a journey back into time and roamed the beautiful cobbled streets of Florence, Italy. The walking tour included you working with your group traveling to seven stations "around" Florence, where you read information and partook in various activities such as using a mirror to "crack" one of Da Vinci's codes.
Remember to read the following articles about Da Vinci's Mona Lisa:
